Sick Day

Chills and fever, aches and dizziness. That was my day.
At least I did have a good book to read. I love Sue Grafton. She's my writing idol.

Speaking of idols, I did watch (and chilled and sweated through) American Idol tonight. You all are right, that Utah kid is amazing. It might have been the flu, but his rendition of "Imagine" got me all misty-eyed. I think he'll win. There's just no one else that comes close. He's cute and humble and adorable, plus he's got an incredible voice and delivery. Sorry if I'm rambling; it's the fever.

Snow at Kukui Grove, click to enlarge
I thought I'd leave you with a picture of Kukui Grove Mall, taken a couple of days before Christmas. Can you see the snow falling? It wasn't real snow, but it was pretty fun. The "snow" was actually bits of frothy foamy bubbles blown out by a "snow" machine mounted on top of the building. I had to sit under the snow machine for two hours this past Christmas in a booth for Kauai Hospice, so I got "snowed" on for two hours. Everytime I opened my mouth to talk to prospective donors, I would inadvertently inhale foam blobs. I think my coughing fits made people donate more. I hope that stuff was non-toxic.

Off to bed. Hopefully, I'll feel good enough to quilt again tomorrow. Life intervenes.

Hope you're feeling better. Off to be! Put on your knit socks and mitts to fight chills. Drink pineapple juice. Sip chick soup (sorry Kauai chickens!).

RATS! A sick day .... no fun .... at least when you're not feeling well there's an excuse for "that hair" and "those dark circles" .....not like when you're feeling fine and an elderly patient of mine has been known to comment to me " aren't you feeling well today dear?" .... or another favorite " you don't wear much makeup do you dear....." .....perhaps I should take a little more time to spruce up before I go to work!

.....oh, and I LOVED that cute kid (the last one of the guys to sing last night on American Idol) who sang "Imagine" (one of my favorite songs of all time) ...my boys were watching with me and were sick of hearing me say " look how cute he is! He's just your age guys! Look how his mom is crying! He's so cute!! He's only a baby!! I LOVE him! He should win!" (much eye rolling and a couple of grunts were the response )

.....Hope you're feeling better soon!

I also LOVE Sue Grafton... Is that the most recent? I purchased it - but I am currently stuck reading school books...

Poor thing! I just HATE feeling sick and icky. Take good care of yourself, lots of liquids and plenty of rest. Sue Grafton is one of the most popular writers at the library. Between her and Nora Roberts, we can't keep the books on the shelves! Feel better soon.

I think this is one of the best books so far! Enjoy! Sorry you are under the weather. Take care. The 'guys' didn't do that well last nite. I have to agree again with you regarding the kid (David?).

I hope you feel better soon. We have some sort of bug traveling through the house ourselves, I guess that's what happen when you go to a carrier's, um I mean preschool B-day bash.

Hope you feel better soon. I have it too. Maybe I gave it to you, OH NO! Is this a surprise... I love Sue Grafton too. I have this one black dress (everyone has that one black dress, don't they?), and I call it my Sue Grafton dress. I think I got to "Q"... and haven't read her since. I'm on a Debbie McComber kick right now (light and delicious).

I love that American Idol kid David. I had AI recorded, so I watched him sing it twice. Oh was it amazing. AMAZING that kid is. And he's just so darn cute, sweet and polite too. I just smile big when he's singing and talking. I thought what Paula said was weird - wanting to squeeze him and hang him from her car mirror. That's Paula I guess!

I've decided I will be calling in now and voting, for David Archuletta of course! I can't wait to hear what he sings next week!

Also, since I'm on an AI roll... the rocker Robbie guys irks me. Not that he's a bad singer... he seems kinda phoney to me. Not that there's anything wrong with wearing a wig, but in his case I think he's trying to be something he's not. I danno.

You should have been here last night when we got 8 inches of the real stuff. Made me sick :-) Tired of winter (sorry).

I'm with you - that little guy, David, is unbelievable. I got a little weepy last night too and no fever here!

Hey, Lisa! I hope you feel better soon. I am disappointed to hear that the flu bug made it all the way to Hawaii. I thought we had it cornered here in NE Ohio. (I work in a doctors' office - we see a lot of it - yuck) Take care, drink plenty of fluids, and rest up for ufo Friday.

Sending well wishes your way. I've heard that fondling stashes of fabric makes a quilter feel much better. Not as well as actually buying some new fabric, but darn close. LOL! Feel better soon. :o)

Feel better, Lisa. I have no tolerance with myself when illness intervenes... like I have time for that! Ha!! Take good care and I agree with you and the American Idol contestant, David, he is such a cutie and so incredibly talented!

Oh Lisa I laughed so hard reading your comment on my blog, get well soon, a good read is a good flu companion. Besides we have that American idol too and it's called "popstars on stage" and "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" and it's heartbreaking how they(the jury) treat those kids, can't stand it, now it's time for a Charade sock knit and Heidi Kum in Germany's next top model. Without Bruce Darnell and his pretty weird accent, imagine!

Sorry to hear that you are sick! I know you will be better in no time. I also really liked David on Idol. He's got it all going on! I bet the snow escapade at Christmas time was something to see! Get well soon! I wish I could send you some nice hot chicken and wild rice soup to make you fell better!!

David Archuleta is a prodigy, I tell ya. A prodigy! Still, I'm rooting for the dark horses, David Cooke and Michael Johns. I'm lovin' this season of AI so far.

I really do hope you feel better soon. Being sick is just no fun.
