Okay, This One Got to Me

I opened up my email to find this little note today:

lorrwill has left a new comment on your post "Still Alive!":

are u gonna update your poor bloggy?

I can't stop giggling. Yes..."lorrwill"...I have been neglecting my poor, poor bloggy something awful, haven't I? Thanks to all of you who have sent emails of concern. And thanks to "lorwill" for making me laugh and making me finally post something! I'm doing fine, and I think I'll be explaining my absence a bit if you stay with me and be patient. I can't blog every day like I used to, but perhaps I can tell you what's been going on in my life.

But first, I have to show you what I finished today!!

My first sweater!! This is the "Must Have Cardigan." It's from a Patons booklet called "Street Smart." The yarn is Patons Classic Wool Merino.

Yes, I said WOOL sweater. In Hawaii. Okay, I'll wait until you stop laughing.

I love the cables that go down the arms. You can find the specs on Ravelry--I followed the instructions exactly, right down to the color and type of yarn. I made a medium and it fits me perfectly!

It was quite a coincidence that I happened to finish it completely on the coldest day EVER in our backyard. The temperature gauge read 51 degrees and boy, is my husband ever playing it up. He's got fleece-lined jeans on, a black fleece jacket, fur lined slippers, wool socks, and a watch cap.
Me? I think the cold feels good. It must be menopause.

A sassy pose in my cozy sweater. My FIRST sweater...EVER. I'm very proud I finished this!

Well...you knew this was gonna happen.

An action shot.
See you again...soon? I hope? My poor bloggy....

I am SO glad to see a blog post from you!! A wool sweater in Hawaii really gives me a giggle. We've just had a week of -25 to -30 wind chill values, so 51 sounds quite warm to me!

I thought this one would have been called "Still alive again". And I still think that you must have a sweater somewhere that is really your first one. Your first one is really not supposed to be wearable. I guess no one told you.

51??????? That is a major heat wave compared to the negative temps we started out the day with yesterday.

The sweater is lovely.... oh to be so crafty. Knitting is on my list of things to do, in my spare time, between 2 and 4 in the morning LOL

Your sweater is GORGEOUS! You should be proud and sassy.

It's good to hear from you. The bloggy world has missed you!

I was just poking around here last night wondering how you were... even thought about calling the quilt shop to make sure nothing dire had happened to you out in paradise. So imagine my surprise to see your blog come up on my reader list... I thought at first I might have poked a button wrong and messed up my settings.

So happy to see ya - and nobody expects daily posts... geez at this point I think we'd be happy with a monthly update... although weekly would be better... LOL But we are all happy to know you are still around.

Nice sweater! I've got my first knitting class tonight... toe up socks! I haven't quite figured out what I'll be doing with 5 DPN's... LOL my goal is to just not hurt myself.

Happy to see ya back... now I have to go finish shoveling our little snow fall from last night... 51 would be a heat wave here. Although I'll admit it's not been as cold as others.

i hit your blog down my list by accident, i kind of got tired of the same ol' "im alive" and lo and behold.....and on my birthday too. arent you the sweetest lisa! i wasnt sure if you were reading your email, glad you are/did. i talked to cynthia about a week or so ago but i havent seen her update her blog...maybe she will now that you have. the sweater is absolutely awesome. one thing i do not own here...a wool sweater. maybe i will go to st. vinnie's tomarrow and see what they have. i have a $15 coupon for clothing there so maybe i can come up with something nice. i started working on my WOW quilt again today and it really feels good. how long did it take you to knit that sweater? it really did turn out lovely and the cables are great! take care and keep posting, i missed you! i found the photos of my going away lunch in my sewing room today and made me a little teary eyed, i miss all you guys so much!

Oh my gosh! You ARE alive!! I have missed you and your photos from home.

Your sweater... it's PERFECT! What a fabulous job you did!

I used to wear wool back home. When you're used to temps in the 80's and they get down below 70, it's sweater time!

Yea!! She's alive AND kickin'!! It's so great to hear from you. You've been soooo missed!

Your "first" sweater (wink, wink) looks awesome. You must have been practicing before you dove into that project? It looks incredible nonetheless.

Glad to see you back.

What a wonderful sweater, seriously your first? I'm sorry I'm still laughing at the cold you're having but that's ok.
I meant to email you and say thank you for your wonderful books, I bought my grandmother a copy of your first one for Christmas. She LOVES it! I love that she isn't terrified of binding like myslef.
Good to read a post, an occasional I'm alive is awesome.

So glad to see you back! I've missed your blogging. I actually just used the Hawaiian squares you sent in my order in a charm quilt this weekend, and was telling my quilt retreat buddies about your fun blog. I'll send you a pic of the quilt when it gets done... thanks for all your inspiration!

that sweater came out beautifully! you look fabulous in it!

Lisa, that was a very ambitious project for your first sweater. It is gorgeous!! I have a very similar one that my mom knit for me 25 years ago, still an important part of my wardrobe for cold winter days. Those hand knit sweaters hold up extraordinarily well.
